The primary aim of the overall CPV Towantic Energy Center project in Oxford is to meet the growing electricity needs of the region. Broken into separate projects, the overall project includes install a 785 MW combined-cycle electric generating facility. This power plant proposes to interconnect to the Eversource Energy 115 kV transmission system, which requires construction of a new Eversource Engery115kV switching station with an associated 115 kV turning structures and transmission taps (this project).
McPhee is the Prime Contractor on this Engineer Procure Construct project for all engineering and plan development as well as site development and construction of a new 115 kV switching station. The Eversource Energy Towantic 3P 115kV Switching Station is a “Greenfield” transmission switching station consisting of nine (9) 115kV line terminals configured in a breaker and one-half layout with fourteen (14) circuit breakers. The project is part of the connection to the electric grid for a new combined cycle power plant.
McPhee is providing all design, purchasing and performing installation work for the entire project scope of work includes all access roads, site development, drilled shaft foundations, control house , P&C design to 61850 protocols, underground 115KV pep cables to new OH line transition structures, overhead lines to new transition line structures, P&C installation, conduit install, P&C cabling install, grounding and security fence installation . McPhee is also responsible for providing all P&C and station equipment testing as well as electrical commissioning services for work required to integrate the station into the electric grid and generating station. In addition, McPhee installed new transmission monopole structures and caisson foundations located in the ROW and transmission line taps.
