Yale Chiller Plant Improvements

McPhee provided improvements to Yale University’s Chiller Plant System. McPhee was contracted by Wendel Energy Services to upgrade Yale’s main chiller on the University’s campus.

This project entailed installing two 7.9 mW combustion turbines to upgrade the Central Power Plant to 5,700 tons of electric drive chiller capacity.

The project included:

  • New 5KV VFD for PP-1
  • New 480V VFD on Chiller 1
  • New VFD & Motor & alignment on CDP-1
  • New VFD on CDP-2
  • Removal of existing cabling, starters, & pipe

The following was included:

  • Reprogram controls
  • New Sequences
  • New Alarms
  • New Cabling
  • New Testing
